Musician
I play Double and electric basses for most live work and studio time. Otherwise I compose on Keyboards, Guitar and then anything else i can lay my hands on to create sounds.
I've been fortunate to be in steady demand over the years for both live work and recording sessions and I've put down live bass work on many original and remixed ‘House’ and ‘Trip Hop’ tracks, which have all been released on both small independent and major record labels, a few of which are listed below:
Richard Earnshaw "Joyride" (Soulfuric Deep)
Homecookin feat. Andrea Clarke - Do What You Wanna (Soulfuric)
Encore "Coochy", FGO/Bloated mixes (Virgin)
Mama Razzi "Show Me Love" (Concept/ Su Su)
Negrocan "Cada Vez" (Swing City)
Lynden David Hall "Forgive Me", FGO/Bloated mixes (EMI/Cool tempo)
Mini Coola 'Space Jam' (Ed Funk/Richard Earnshaw Mixes) (Duffnote)
Homecookin' feat. Andrea Clarke ‘Do What You Wanna’ Richard Earnshaw remixes (Soulfuric)
Writer / performer
A little bit of histroy:
I'm a serial writer/composer, always recording ideas.
I met composer and pianist Mark Horwood around fifteen years ago. Since then our combined experience has taken us all over, European tours with fusion blues band Electric Circus, support gigs with US blues legends Larry Garner, Angela Brown, Radio One's Grooverider as 'Fusion Groove Orchestra' (FGO), re-mixes under 'FGO' and 'Bloated' for 'Groove Armada', 'Lynden David Hall' and 'En-Core', an album for progressive US DJ D:Fuse, a sound track for National Geographic, and an orchestral score recorded by ex-RCM cellist Laura Ritchie. More recently Mark has been arranging and orchestrating for The Mummers and i've often been filling the Double bass role.

2005 - To date Minicoola Trio:
We've got together with 'ollie' to create a more Jazz/triphop/Acoustic sound and take it out live: www.myspace.com/markhorwood
2000 - To date Minicoola:
A jazz-infused, beat driven, energy abundance; fusing an eclectic range of musical styles,
Mark and I started this project around 6 years ago and we've come up with loads of cool dance music: www.minicoola.com
2003 - 2004 EVA:
In 2003 we met up with drummer 'Harun' and recorded a live album under the name of 'EVA'.
Harun, ex of Steelers Wheel and The Strawbs (and for any Tarantino fans, Rod can be heard playing drums on the original recording of ‘Stuck in the Middle with you’.
As a trio we started laying down tracks at Tree House Recording Studios on the South Coast for our first album. The combination of live breaks and beats, driving bass lines and high energy keyboard improvisation has to be heard to be believed at times.
The music draws influence from 1970’s jazz fusion, blending complex textures with the electronic sounds of today.
1996 - 1998 Fusion Groove orchestra:
Mark and matt were in the original line up of ‘Fusion Groove Orchestra’, the live funk, House and Drum and Bass band that set dance floors alight a decade ago when supporting such luminaries as Grooverider (of Fabio and Grooverider fame).
Pre 1998: I spent a lot of time writing with one of my best friends Rick Flahant, we composed and performed with various bands over the years. I also had a four year spell in London with a great band called Is U Is, (they were almost destined for great things;)
